What a great example of prayer!
First of all, I like how Abraham prepared a rather nice meal for the angels and the angel of the LORD. He felt compelled to serve the LORD. If only I felt that compulsion to serve the LORD with every moment of my life. I also think that it is interesting that he told them he would bring "a morsel of bread," and he procedes to have his wife make fresh bread and his servants kill and prepare a "good calf." Not just a simple morsel of bread!
This should be my attitude too. I should do as much as I possibly can to serve the LORD and serve with the humble attitude that I am giving only "a morsel of bread." Not - look at all that I have accomplished for the LORD.
Now on to the example of prayer. It really struck me at how bold Abraham really is. It makes me wonder if I could be as bold as he was? And yet, we know that we can be bold and persistant if we know that we are praying for something that God has already promised to give us. It just occured to me that all of the petitions of the Lord's Prayer are things that God had promised to give us. Therefore, these things we can and should ask God to give us boldly and with 100% confidence that he will grant our request.
I really like the following quote from Kretzman:
"This is a glorious example for the believers of all times, for they also are dust as to their origin and ashes as to their end, and yet, as children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, they may freely and boldly speak to their heavenly Father and implore Him with the greatest daring"
Amazing!

Why Rustproof Treasures?
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
