July/August: Friendship

Posted by Dana in

Hello ladies! I'm really excited to see how a Virtual Bible Study will work. This is as new to me as it is to you, so please let me know if you have ideas or if something is not working for you. This is our blog, so I want it to be something useful for each of you.

Isn't it amazing that we have the ability at our fingertips to edify each other and worship together without even seeing each other? Since we're spread out in Washington, South Dakota, South Carolina, and Wisconsin, I'm hoping this will make the miles seem smaller.

The lovely Tamar suggested Rustproof Treasures which comes from Matthew 6:19-21. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

As we all move in separate directions and take on different roles in our lives, I think this passage fits so perfectly. What we do here on this earth, where we go, our successes or failures, our jobs, our marriages, our children, our money, all of it...it doesn't matter what we do as long we glorify God while doing it. No matter how much I miss you, I am comforted knowing what will happen to each of us in the end!

Alright, this has gone on long enough. I will try not to be so long-winded in the future! I was thinking a good topic for discussion would be friendship.  If you have time read 1 Samuel 18-20. It is the account of Jonathan and David's friendship. What are the benefits/difficulties of friendship? How does God bless us through friendship? What are some other passages that are fitting or relate to this section? How can Christ's love shine through our friendships? Read. Discuss. Post. Comment. Look forward to hearing from all of you!
